Getting started for Warriors (children, teens and adults doing the quests)
Welcome, Warrior! This guide is for you, whatever your age. In Torvan your chores become quests. Do them, show your proof, and earn coins, XP and cards.
Updated for version 1.14.0. Last updated 15 October 2026.
The big idea
- You're the Warrior. You do the quests.
- Your Strategist is your parent, carer or support worker. They set quests and check them.
- When they say yes, you get coins and 100 XP.
- Coins are real money. 1 coin is £1. Your Strategist pays you.
- XP makes you level up. New levels give you new cards to collect.
Setting up
Your Strategist can help you with this part.
- Open Torvan and tap Family / Support Setup.
- Tap New Warrior.
- Swipe to see the nine Worlds. Pick your favourite! Your World gives you your colours and your rank names, and your card packs come from it to start with.
- Fill in the form:
- Nickname: this is the name friends see. Don't use your full real name.
- Year of birth: just the year you were born.
- Email and Password: your password needs at least 10 characters, with a letter and a number.
- Tap Create Account.
- Look in the email inbox for a 6-digit code. Type it in and tap Verify.
- If your phone has a fingerprint or face set up, you're asked Lock Torvan with your fingerprint? (Chore Scape in older versions) Tap Turn on or Not now.
Pick your nickname carefully. You can't change it yourself later.
Linking to your Strategist
Before you can do quests, your account needs to be linked to your Strategist.
- Your screen says Your Account is Unlinked and shows a code.
- Read the code out to your Strategist. They type it into their phone.
- A box pops up called Account Link Request. It shows your Strategist's name and email.
- Is it really your Strategist? Then tap Approve. If you don't know them, tap Deny.
Your code changes every day. If it doesn't work, check the code on your screen again.
Your home screen
- Your rank card shows your rank, an XP bar and your coins. Tap your coins to see what changed them.
- Day buttons show today and the next 5 days. Tap MORE for a calendar.
- Today's tasks lists your quests for the day.
- Focus Mode shows just your next quest, so you can do one thing at a time.
- The shield opens your Warrior Records: your level, your coins and your cards.
- The wallet is where you ask for a payout. From version 1.14.0, if your coins are in pots, open My pots and tap Ask for money on a pot.
- The bell shows your notifications.
- The cog opens Settings.
Doing a quest
- Do the chore in real life.
- Tap Verify on the quest.
- If it needs photos, tap Camera and take them. The box tells you how many you need.
- Tap Submit Campaign Proof. If there are no photos to take, tap Complete.
- The quest now says Pending Review. Your Strategist will check it.
Take photos of the finished chore, not of people. Your Strategist will see your photos.
Some Warriors need a parent's OK before they can use photo proof. If you do, your home screen says Waiting for a parent's OK. Your quests still work: tap Verify, then Complete. More about this.
If they say yes, you get a "Quest approved!" message and your rewards. Well done!
If it says Rejected, don't worry. Read the reason, fix what's needed, and send new photos.
Only did part of it? Tick Only partially done, or tap Partial Credit if there are no photos. You'll get half the reward, and that's still honest and good!
A quest that says Unlocks with a date isn't ready yet. Missed a quest? It usually moves to today, so you can still do it for most of the reward. If the same quest is already due again, the old one says Missed instead. If your Strategist has switched on missed-quest penalties, a missed quest can also cost 1 in every 10 of your coins, at most once a day. You'll be told if it does.
Suggesting a quest
Got an idea for a quest? Tap Propose Quest, fill in the steps and tap Submit Quest. It says Awaiting Review until your Strategist says yes. If they say no, it just disappears.
Want to change a quest you've been given, like its time or its coins? Tap the quest, then Propose a change. Your Strategist can say yes, change it a bit, or say no. More about changes.
Levels and cards
- Every quest gives 100 XP. Every 250 XP is a new level.
- When you level up, you'll see RANK UP! and a new rank name.
- When you start, you get a welcome pack of 5 cards. Every new level brings another pack!
- When you level up, tap Open your pack to see your new cards, or Later to save it.
- See your cards in the Compendium: tap the shield, then View Compendium. Tap the gift icon at the top to open packs you saved. About packs.
- At level 3 you unlock Duels, a card game against the computer. To open it, tap the shield, then View Compendium, then the cards button at the top (Play a Duel). Learn how to play.
Getting paid
Want your coins as money? Tap the wallet at the top of your home screen and ask for All of it or A set amount. Your Strategist can pay you or say not now. You can have one request at a time. From version 1.14.0, if your coins are in pots, open My pots and tap Ask for money on a pot.
When your Strategist pays you, a box called Royal Treasury Settlement pops up. Only tap Confirm Receipt once you've really got the money. Only the amount they paid comes off your coins. More about payouts.
Staying safe
- Only add friends you know in real life.
- Never share your password, address, school or phone number.
- If someone makes you feel uneasy, remove them. Then tell your Strategist or another adult you trust.
- You can block and report people. They won't know it was you.
Your Strategist can see your quests and photos. Friends are switched off until your Strategist switches them on. Torvan has no chat. More about safety.
Quiet hours are switched on to start with, overnight, so Torvan won't buzz at bedtime. Your notifications wait until the morning.
Your privacy
This is the short version of our privacy policy, in plain words, for Warriors of any age. It goes with Version 6 of our Privacy Policy, from 15 October 2026. The full version has more detail.
Your Strategist can see your quests and photos. If you have more than one Strategist, they all can.
What Torvan keeps about you
- Your nickname and email address, so you can sign in and link with your Strategist.
- Your password, locked up so that even we can't read it.
- The year you were born, but not your birthday. It helps us pick the right safety settings for you.
- Your quests, coins, XP and cards. That's the game!
- Photos you take as proof for your quests.
- Your pots: their names, any goal, how much is in each one, and everything that goes in or out. Pot names are locked up (encrypted), but we have the key.
- Your payout requests: how much you asked for, which pot it was from, and what your Strategist said. If they say not now and give a reason, we keep that too.
- Changes you ask for to a quest, the note you write, and what your Strategist said.
- Your quiet hours, who set them, and any different ones you ask for.
- Your time zone and some details about your phone, so reminders arrive at the right time. These include a code for your phone, and whether notifications are switched on. We only get these once you're linked to a Strategist.
- The messages we send you, like "Quest approved!". We delete most of them after 30 days.
Who can see it
- Your Strategists can see your quests, coins, pots, photos, payout requests, quiet hours, and any changes you ask for to a quest.
- They can also see whether your phone can get notifications from Torvan, how many phones you're signed in on, and if you haven't opened Torvan for 14 days.
- If you remove a Strategist, they get a message saying you removed them. They aren't told if someone else links with you later.
- We run Torvan, so we can see what it keeps about you, including your photos. We only look when we need to, like when you ask us for help, to fix something that's gone wrong, or to keep someone safe.
- The companies that store it for us are only allowed to use it to help us run Torvan.
- To see who's linked to you, go to Settings → Account → Who can see my quests.
- If someone there isn't your parent or carer, tap Not your parent or carer? next to their name. That tells us, and we'll look into it. We won't tell your other Strategists.
- If your Strategist switches Friends on, friends only ever see your nickname.
- We never show you ads, and we never sell your information.
If you're under 15: a parent's OK
- You might need a parent or guardian to say OK in their own Torvan app before you can use photo proof or Friends. If you do, your home screen says Waiting for a parent's OK.
- Your quests still work while you wait. Tap Verify, then Complete.
- You can tap Remind to ask your Strategist. You can do this once a day, up to 3 times for each Strategist.
- Your parent might say no. That's OK: photo proof and Friends stay off, and your quests still work.
- If they say OK and then change their mind later, photo proof and Friends switch off and your quest photos are deleted. Your quests still work.
- If you remove one of your Strategists, or a parent says no, a new adult who links with you soon after has to wait 7 days before they can say OK. This helps keep you safe.
Your photos
- Take photos of the finished chore, not of people.
- Before a photo is sent, the app takes out its hidden details, like where it was taken.
- Your photos are deleted 7 days after your quest is done. If your Strategist hasn't checked your proof yet, we keep your photos until they do. They're deleted sooner if your Strategist says no to your proof, or deletes the quest.
- A phone that has shown one of your photos might still keep a copy for a while after it's deleted.
If nobody links with you
If you're under 15, your account may be deleted if no Strategist links with you. Your linking screen tells you if this applies: once you've had no Strategist for 30 days, your account is set to be deleted 30 days later. As soon as a Strategist links with you, it's safe. Ask a parent or carer to link with you.
Your rights
- You can ask us what we keep about you, and ask for a copy.
- You can ask us to fix something that's wrong, or to delete your account.
- Just email us at support@chorescape.co.uk. Someone you trust can help you.
- If you're not happy with what we do, you or someone helping you can tell the ICO. They make sure companies look after people's information properly: ico.org.uk, or call 0303 123 1113.
If anything about Torvan ever worries you, tell your Strategist or someone else you trust.
