Frequently Asked Questions
Everything below is self-service — you shouldn't need to email us for any of it, but Support is there if something's missing.

Getting started
What actually is Torvan?
An app that turns everyday tasks into "quests" — complete them and you earn XP, level up, and collect packs of cards from a themed collection. It works two ways, chosen when you sign up:
- Just for you — you set your own quests and mark them done yourself. Good for anyone who wants a more engaging way to build routines solo.
- Family & support setups — one person completes real tasks, and a parent, carer, or support worker assigns and approves them, with genuine cash rewards paid out. The person doing the tasks can ask for a payout in the app when they're ready. Built for the actual relationship between someone building independent routines and the person backing them.
Guides: for Strategists (parents, carers and other adults), for Warriors (the people doing the quests, whatever their age) and for Solo.
Can I switch between solo and family mode later?
Not self-service yet — it's set when you create your account. If your situation changes, email Support and we'll sort it out.
Do I need to pay to start?
No. There's nothing to pay right now: everyone who signs up before plans go on sale in the app has free access until 31 December 2026, with no card needed.
More in the Help Centre: Plans and billing.
Is it available on iPhone?
Yes, for testers. During our test, invited testers get Torvan on iPhone through Apple's TestFlight app, and on Android through Google Play. It isn't in the App Store for everyone yet.
Plans & payment
How much does it cost?
Nothing during the free period (see above). Plans can't be bought in the app at the moment. When they go on sale, you'll see the price in the app before you buy anything. One plan covers the household: up to 6 Warriors and 4 adults, including the person who buys it. Solo accounts for under-18s are free.
Where do I pay — the app, or the website?
In the app, once plans go on sale: through Google Play on Android, or the App Store on iPhone. We don't take payments on this website or anywhere else.
More in the Help Centre: Plans and billing.
How do I cancel my subscription?
A plan bought through Google Play is managed and cancelled in Google Play — no need to contact us:
- Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Choose Torvan (Chore Scape in older versions) and tap Cancel subscription.
You can also go straight to your Google Play subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. During the free period there's nothing to cancel.
More in the Help Centre: Plans and billing.
What happens to my progress if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted. Your account, quests, XP, cards and packs all stay exactly as they are — you just won't be able to use the app past the "can't be used right now" screen until you have a plan again. Then you pick up right where you left off.
Do you offer refunds?
Google Play takes the payment, so refunds are handled by Google under Google Play's refund policies, and you ask for one through Google Play. If something's gone wrong on our side, such as a technical problem, email Support and we'll help.
Your account & privacy
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete My Account, in the app. This marks your account for deletion straight away and tells you the exact date it'll happen — every quest and setting tied to it is permanently deleted 30 days later. You can cancel any time before then: if you sign back in, the app asks whether to keep your account. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a Google Play subscription, so cancel that in Google Play too. Prefer not to use the app? Email Support and we'll action it directly instead. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

How the app works
How does XP and levelling work?
Every completed quest earns a fixed 100 XP (less for partial credit or a missed quest), no matter who sets it up — this is deliberately locked so progress stays consistent and predictable rather than depending on how generous a particular quest was. Level up every 250 XP. New Warrior and Solo accounts start with a welcome pack of 5 cards, and every level up to 100 brings another pack.
More in the Help Centre: Rewards, levels, cards and packs.
How do payouts work?
Coins are real money: 1 coin is £1. The Strategist pays the money themselves, in cash or by bank transfer, and records it in the app. The person doing the tasks can ask for a payout in the app, all of it or a set amount, one request at a time, and the Strategist can pay it or say not now. When they confirm they've got the money, only the amount paid comes off their balance.
More in the Help Centre: Payouts.
In solo mode, why don't I earn coins?
Coins represent real money a Strategist pays out to a Warrior — since there's no second person in solo mode, there's no one to pay you. You still get the full XP/level/card progression, just without the cash side.
More in the Help Centre: Getting started with Solo.
I forgot my password
Tap "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in screen. We'll email you a reset code directly — no Strategist or support request needed, it's entirely self-service.
More in the Help Centre: Passwords and forgotten passwords.
Is my data and photos private?
Private from other people, yes. In the app, your quests and photos are only shown to you and the people you're linked to, and friends only ever see your nickname. Your data isn't end-to-end encrypted, though: because we run the service, we can access it, and we only look when we need to. See Who at Torvan can see your data, and our Privacy Policy for the full details on what we collect and how it's protected.
