Getting started with Solo
Solo (called Just Me in the app) is for one person (usually an adult) who wants to run their own quests. There's no approver, no coins and no photos. You still get XP, levels, ranks, cards and Duels.
Updated for version 1.12.0. Last updated 9 October 2026.
Signing up
- Open Torvan. On How are you using this?, tap Just Me.
- Swipe through the Worlds and choose one. It sets your colours, the World your card packs come from to start with, and your rank names. You can change it later.
- Fill in your nickname, year of birth, email and password. Passwords need at least 10 characters, with at least one letter and one number, and a checklist ticks off each rule as you type. Solo isn't available to under-15s: they can join as a Warrior with a parent or carer instead.
- Tap Create Account, then type in the 6-digit code we email you and tap Verify.
- If your phone has a fingerprint or face set up, you're asked Lock Torvan with your fingerprint? (Chore Scape in older versions) Tap Turn on or Not now. You'll then land on My Quests.
Check your details. You can't change your nickname or year of birth in the app afterwards. In a family, a linked Strategist can correct a year of birth, but a Solo account has no Strategist, so only support can change it.
Your home screen
- At the top: Cards & Progress (a shield: your level and cards), Calendar and Settings.
- Your level card shows Level N, your rank title and your total XP.
- To Do lists the quests due today, and any you still have to catch up on, each with a Done button.
- Coming up shows your next few quests.
- Completed shows your last 20 finished quests.
- A repeating quest has a small repeat icon after its title. Tap its row to see how often it repeats.
The screen refreshes every 30 seconds, or pull down to refresh it yourself.
Adding a quest
- Tap + to open New Quest.
- Basics: give it a title (required) and any notes.
- Every quest earns a fixed 100 XP, and there's no coins box in Solo. The latest version of the app says so on Basics. Older versions have a Rewards & Verification step for it.
- Schedule: choose One-off Quest, Repeats Daily or Repeats Weekly. Pick a date from today up to a year ahead, and a time if you like.
- Reminders: up to three, in minutes before the due time. They start at 60, 15 and 5 minutes. Reminders only work when the quest has a time.
- Tap Submit Quest. It's active straight away.
Repeating quests create their future copies automatically, up to 60 days ahead.
Think before you add. In Solo you can't edit or delete a quest once it's made, so check the title, date and repeat setting first.
Marking quests done
Tap Done on a quest. Your XP is added straight away. There are no photos to take and no one to wait for.
Done only works for quests due today or overdue. A quest in the future says "This quest is not due yet".
If you miss a quest, it usually moves to today overnight with a "Missed -- moved from…" note. You can still finish it, for 75% of the XP. If the same quest is already due again (for example, the next copy of a daily quest), the missed one is marked missed instead and leaves your To Do list.
What you earn
- XP: 100 per quest, or 75 for a quest that was missed first. Every 250 XP is a new level.
- Ranks: each World has 25 rank titles. See ranks.
- Cards: you start with a welcome pack of 5 cards, and each new level brings another pack, from your World or any of the nine. Open them from the RANK UP! box, or from the gift icon in the Compendium (Cards & Progress → View Compendium). About cards and packs.
- Duels: the card game unlocks at level 3. Find it under Cards & Progress → View Compendium → Play a Duel. How to play.
How Solo is different
- No coins or payouts. Coins are real money paid by a Strategist, and Solo has no Strategist. Your coin balance always stays at 0.
- No partial credit, and no missed-quest penalties (penalties only take coins, and you have none).
- No photo proof. Older versions of the app show a Photo Verification Required switch on the quest form, but in Solo it does nothing.
- No Reminder Defaults. Every new quest starts with reminders at 60, 15 and 5 minutes. Change them in the form if you want to.
- Friends follow the same rules as everyone else. Adults can use Friends. Under-18s can't use them on a Solo account, because no Strategist can switch them on. See Friends.
