Account, billing and privacy basics
Signing in and out, keeping your account locked, plans, deleting your account, and where your settings are kept.
Updated for version 1.11.2. Last updated 4 October 2026.
Signing in and out
Torvan remembers you, so it normally opens straight into your account. You'll only see the sign-in screen after signing out, or if your session has ended.
- Sign in with your email and password. The button says Enter War Room in the Three Kingdoms World and Sign In in the others.
- To sign out: Settings → Sign Out (in red). There's no "are you sure?".
- Signing out forgets your saved email and turns off the fingerprint lock on this phone. For Strategists, it also forgets which Warrior you had selected.
- After you sign out, this phone stops getting that account's notifications.
- Sharing a phone is fine. For example, a Warrior can sign out and a parent can sign in on the same phone.
Passwords and forgotten passwords
Passwords need at least 10 characters, with at least one letter and one number. When you sign up or reset your password, a checklist under the password box ticks off each rule as you type.
- On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot your password?
- Type your email and tap Send Reset Code. If that email has an account, a code is on its way.
- Enter the code from the email, your new password twice, and tap Reset Password.
- Sign in with your new password.
You can also reset your password on the website, from My Account.
Fingerprint lock
The fingerprint lock is an extra lock on top of staying signed in. It isn't a way of signing in.
- After you create an account, and whenever you sign in after signing out, Torvan asks Lock Torvan with your fingerprint? (Chore Scape in older versions) It only asks if the lock is off and your phone has a fingerprint or face set up.
- Tap Turn on and do one fingerprint or face scan. Not now leaves it off, and you'll be asked again the next time you sign in. Tick Don't ask me again on this phone to stop the question on this phone for good, even after signing out.
- You can turn it on or off at any time in Settings → Account → Fingerprint Lock. Turning it on needs one successful fingerprint or face scan.
- When it's on, Torvan asks for your fingerprint or face when you open it, and when you come back after 3 minutes or more away. Short trips, such as to the camera for photo proof, don't lock it.
- A notification you tap while it's locked opens once you've unlocked.
- Your phone's PIN isn't accepted. If the scan fails, tap Try Again, or Use password instead. That signs you out so you can sign in with your password, and the lock stays on.
- It's set separately on each phone. Signing out from Settings turns it off on that phone. You'll be asked about it again when you next sign in.
Your nickname and year of birth
- Your nickname is what friends see. It can't be changed in the app once your account is made. If you need it changed, email support@chorescape.co.uk.
- Your year of birth can only be set once by you. A linked Strategist can correct a Warrior's; anyone else needs to email support. See Year of birth and age.
Plans and billing
Free until 31 December 2026. Everyone who signs up before plans go on sale in the app has free access to Torvan until 31 December 2026.
- Plans can't be bought in the app at the moment. On Android, they'll be bought and managed through Google Play, and on iPhone through the App Store. We'll add the steps here when they go on sale. Plans aren't sold on our website.
- To see or cancel a Google Play subscription at any time, open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then go to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Google under Google Play's refund policies.
- Adult Strategists and Solo users can see their access in Settings → Billing → Subscription, for example when their free access ends. Warriors and under-18s don't see Billing.
- In a family, the Strategist has the plan. A Warrior is covered if any of their linked Strategists has access, so Warriors never need to buy anything.
- One plan covers the household. Other adult Strategists linked to the plan-holder's Warriors, such as a second parent or a carer, are covered by the same plan, so they don't need to buy their own.
- A plan covers up to 6 Warriors and up to 4 adults, including the person who bought it. If more people than that are linked, the extra people aren't covered by the plan, and the app explains why.
- Supporting more people than that, for example as a care provider or support organisation? Please email support@chorescape.co.uk to ask about an organisation licence.
- A Solo account has its own plan. A Solo account for someone under 18 is free: Settings says Free while you're under 18.
If an account doesn't have access, the app shows a screen explaining that Torvan can't be used on it right now, with a Log Out button. Signing back in checks again. If you see this before 31 December 2026, please email support@chorescape.co.uk.
Deleting your account
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete My Account.
- Read the message and tap Delete My Account (in red).
- You're signed out straight away. Your account is permanently deleted 30 days later.
- To change your mind, sign back in within the 30 days. The app asks straight away: Keep my account cancels the deletion, and Continue deleting signs you out again.
- You can also open the same menu item. It shows Account Deletion Pending with the date, and Cancel Deletion.
- After 30 days, the account and all its data are deleted: quests, stats, cards, packs, links, friendships, notifications and photos. This can't be undone.
- If a Strategist deletes their account, their links go too. Their Warriors' own accounts and data aren't deleted, but they lose that Strategist.
- If a Warrior deletes their account, the app doesn't tell their Strategist.
- Once the parent's OK check is switched on, an account for someone under 15 that has had no linked Strategist for 30 days is scheduled for deletion automatically, and they're told in the app. Only a Strategist linking with them cancels it. See Under-15s with no Strategist.
- A parent or guardian who is a linked Strategist can ask us to delete their child's account. See Making a request.
- You can also delete your account on the website, from My Account, or email Support.
- Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription bought through an app store. If you have one from Google Play, cancel it in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Privacy basics
The full details are in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. A few things that are useful to know day to day:
- We ask for your year of birth, never your full date of birth.
- Friends only ever see your nickname. There's no chat. See Families and safety.
- Photo proof has its location and other hidden details removed on your phone before it's uploaded. Quest photos are deleted 7 days after the quest is done.
- Children under 15 need a parent's OK before they can use photo proof or Friends. See A parent's OK.
- There's a short version of our privacy policy written for children: Your privacy.
- Your Duels collection is private to you.
- Some settings are saved on your phone only: Themes, Notification Sound, Photo Source, Focus mode, Duels settings and the fingerprint lock. Others are saved on your account and follow you: quiet hours, your World, where your card packs come from, and a Strategist's Play Duels.
- The bell's list comes from our server, so it follows your account to a new phone.
To ask about your data, or to access, correct or delete it, email support@chorescape.co.uk or our privacy officer. See Making a request.
