Payouts
Coins are real money: 1 coin = £1. The app keeps count, but it never moves money. You pay your Warrior yourself, then record it in the app. Your Warrior can also ask for a payout when they're ready.
Updated for version 1.14.0. Last updated 13 October 2026.
How a payout works
- Your Warrior earns coins from approved quests.
- If they like, your Warrior asks for a payout in the app: all of their coins, or a set amount.
- You pay them the money yourself, in cash or by bank transfer, outside the app.
- You record it: tap Pay on their request, or Mark as Paid in the Treasury.
- Your Warrior's app asks them to confirm they got it. When they do, exactly the amount paid leaves their coin balance and is added to their Lifetime Earned. Any other coins stay.
Savings pots
From version 1.14.0, a Warrior's coins are kept in pots. Every Warrior has a Default pot. A Strategist can add more, such as "Holiday", up to 8 at a time (Default included), each with a goal if you like. The coins are still real money, and the app still never moves it. Solo accounts and My quests don't have pots.
- Setting them up (Strategists). Go to Settings → Preferences → Pots for [name]. New pot adds one. Edit renames a pot, sets its goal, or puts it in payout-day reminders. Move money moves coins from one pot to another. History shows what went in and out. Any linked Strategist can change the pots.
- Quests pay into a pot. A quest pays into Default unless you pick another pot under Pays into, on the Rewards step of the quest form. You'll see it once your Warrior has 2 or more pots. The quest card shows the pot, such as "→ Holiday". The day-completion bonus always goes into Default.
- Asking for money (Warriors). Open My pots: tap your coins on the home screen, or open Warrior Records (the shield) and tap My pots. Tap Ask for money on a pot, then choose all of it or a set amount. You ask from one pot at a time, and you can still have only one request at a time.
- Paying (Strategists). The request card says which pot it's from, such as "Sam asked for £5.00 from Holiday", and Pay never records more than that pot has. In the Treasury, each pot has its own Mark as paid button. When your Warrior confirms, the money comes out of that pot.
- Penalties only come from Default. If the missed-quest penalty is on, it takes 10% of the money in the Default pot (not counting any that's waiting to be paid out). The other pots are never fined.
- Payout-day reminders. Default is in them. A new pot isn't, unless you switch it on. Only pots in payout-day reminders count towards an overdue payout, so money your Warrior is saving doesn't nag you.
- Archiving a pot. You can archive a pot once it's empty and nothing is waiting to be paid from it. You pick which pot its future quests pay into, and its history is kept. Default can't be archived.
- Notifications never mention pots, on your phone or in the bell. A notification can still say an amount, such as "£5.00", but never which pot. Pots aren't shown on the home-screen widget either.
Saving up for something? Your coins can sit in different pots, like "Holiday". Open My pots and tap Ask for money on the pot you want paid out. Missed-quest penalties only ever come from your Default pot.
Asking for a payout (Warriors)
- Tap the wallet icon at the top of your home screen (Ask for a payout). You can also open Warrior Records (the shield) and tap Ask for a payout under your coins. From version 1.14.0, if your coins are in savings pots, open My pots and tap Ask for money on a pot instead (the wallet's screen sends you there).
- Under How much would you like?, choose All of it, or A set amount and type it in pounds and pence, such as 5 or 5.50. It has to be more than £0.00 and no more than your balance. When you ask from a pot, it's no more than the money free in that pot: what's in it, less anything already waiting to be paid out.
- Tap the button to send it. Your Strategists get a notification, and they can pay you or say not now.
- You can have one request at a time. While it's waiting, the screen says when you asked, and you can tap Cancel my request.
- After a "not now", or after you cancel, you can ask again 10 minutes later. You can ask up to 5 times in any 24 hours. The screen tells you when you can ask again.
- You can't ask while a payout is waiting for you to confirm you've got it, or when you have no coins.
- If your Strategist says not now, the screen shows it, with their reason if they gave one. The reason only shows in the app, never in the notification.
- If they pay, the screen says they're paying you. Tap I've got it once you've really got the money.
- Solo accounts don't have payouts, and a Warrior needs a linked Strategist to ask.
Want your coins paid out? Tap the wallet and ask for all of it, or just some. If your coins are in pots, open My pots and ask from one pot. You can have one request at a time.
Answering a request (Strategists)
When your Warrior asks, you get a notification saying how much they asked for, and the request waits in your bell. Tap it to open the Treasury for that Warrior. The request is a card at the top, such as "Sam asked for £5.00", with two buttons:
- Pay: pay your Warrior first, then tap it. It records exactly the amount on the button as paid, with your Payment Reference Note if you've added one. Your Warrior then confirms it, as for any payout. Pay never records more than they asked for or more than their balance (for a request from a pot, more than that pot has free): if the balance is lower now, the card says so and the button shows the lower amount.
- Not now: add a reason if you like (up to 200 characters), then tap Say not now. Your Warrior sees your reason in the app.
- Pay is greyed out while an earlier payout is still waiting for your Warrior to confirm it, or when there's nothing to pay.
- If two Strategists are linked, the first to answer decides. The other is told the request was already answered.
- Paying with Mark as Paid also answers a waiting request as paid.
- You can't pay part of a request from the card. To pay a different amount, say not now with a reason (your Warrior can then ask for that amount), or use Mark as Paid to pay the whole balance (from version 1.14.0, with savings pots, the money free in one pot).
- On an older version of the app, you'll get the notification but no card to answer it. Mark as Paid still works, so update the app when you can.
Paying out with Mark as Paid (Strategists)
You don't have to wait to be asked. From version 1.14.0, if your Warrior has savings pots, the Treasury lists each pot with its own Mark as paid button, which records the money free in that pot (what's in it, less anything waiting to be paid out). Older versions of the app have one button for the whole balance. To pay out at any time:
- On your home screen, tap the wallet icon (Treasury Payments).
- You'll see the Outstanding Coin Balance and the Total Settlement in pounds.
- Pay your Warrior that amount.
- If you like, add a Payment Reference Note, such as a bank transfer reference. It's stored encrypted and isn't shown again in the app. We hold the key, so we can still read it if we need to.
- Tap Mark as Paid (with savings pots, the one on the pot you're paying from). The button then says Awaiting Warrior Confirmation... until your Warrior confirms.
- Mark as Paid records the amount shown on its button: the whole balance, or with savings pots, the money free in that pot. To pay part of it, your Warrior can ask for a set amount.
- If the balance dropped after the screen loaded (for example, after an Undo), the lower amount is recorded, and the app tells you.
- Only one payout can be waiting for confirmation at a time.
- Mark as Paid can't be undone in the app.
- Coins earned after you tap Mark as Paid stay in the balance for next time.
- The balance is shown in pounds and pence, so any balance above £0.00 can be paid out.
Confirming a payout (Warriors)
After your Strategist records a payout, a box called Royal Treasury Settlement appears the next time your home screen loads. It says how much they sent you, how much comes off your coin balance and how much that leaves. From version 1.14.0, it also says which pot it's from. You can also confirm on the Ask for a payout screen, with I've got it.
- Only tap Confirm Receipt once you've really got the money.
- Confirming takes only the amount that was paid off your balance. Coins you earned meanwhile, or didn't ask for, stay.
- Tapping outside the box doesn't close it. If it's closed with Back, it comes back the next time your home screen loads, until you confirm.
- Your XP, level and cards don't change.
Payout Schedule and overdue payouts
Settings → Preferences → Payout Schedule sets how often you plan to pay:
- Payout Frequency: Weekly, Bi-Weekly (every 14 days) or Monthly (every 28 days).
- Scheduled Payday: Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
It shows Weekly and Friday to start with. It's your own setting, and it covers all your Warriors.
Tap Save at least once. Until you save a schedule, payouts are never marked as overdue, even though the screen shows Weekly and Friday.
When a payout is overdue
- A payout is overdue when your Warrior has coins and the scheduled payday has passed. With savings pots, only the pots in payout-day reminders count. The next payday is counted from the last confirmed payout.
- Before your first confirmed payout, a balance above 0 shows as overdue on every day except payday itself.
- A payout marked as paid but not yet confirmed still counts as overdue until your Warrior confirms it.
- You'll see a banner on the Treasury screen and an item in your bell, with a notification that comes again every 3 days while it's overdue.
- Your Warrior's bell shows it too, without a notification.
Records: Balance History and Share My Week
- Balance History (Settings → Preferences) shows 90 days of coin changes: quest rewards, bonuses and penalties. It doesn't list payouts. Warriors can also tap their coins on the home screen. Once a Warrior has savings pots, each pot's History takes its place, and it lists payouts and money moved between pots too.
- Share My Week (Strategists, on the main Settings list while looking at a Warrior, not on Me) makes a Weekly activity summary: a PDF of that week's activities, day by day, with the time spent, your notes and, if you add it, the support needed. It's for sharing with the people involved in your Warrior's support, so it doesn't include coins, payouts, XP or anything from the game. Your notes stay on your phone, encrypted, and the app doesn't send the PDF anywhere; you choose where to share it. See Weekly activity summary.
- Warrior Records (the shield on the Warrior's home screen) shows Active Coins and Lifetime Earned, which is the total paid out and confirmed so far, with Ask for a payout underneath (My pots from version 1.14.0, with savings pots).
Things to know
- Balances are shown in pounds and pence: on the home screen, in Warrior Records, on the payout screen and in the Treasury.
- If a Strategist has switched on the missed-quest penalty, a missed quest with reminders on can take 10% off the balance, at most once a day. With savings pots, it's 10% of what's in the Default pot (not counting money waiting to be paid out), and the other pots are never fined. Completing a whole day adds a 5% bonus. How rewards are worked out.
- If two Strategists are linked to the same Warrior, each has their own Payout Schedule.
- If a Strategist still has an older version of the app, its Mark as Paid pays from the total: the Default pot first, then the other pots, largest first. Update the app to choose the pot.
