Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 October 2026
These terms apply to your use of Torvan (our "app"), provided by Chris Smith, trading as Torvan (formerly Chore Scape) ("we", "us"). By creating an account, you agree to these terms.
Using our app
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
- Torvan can be used by anyone who wants a gamified way to manage chores and routines — on your own, or linked to a parent, carer, or accountability partner ("Strategist") who can assign and approve tasks for your ("Warrior") account. Where a Warrior account belongs to a child, the linked Strategist is responsible for that account's use.
- You must be 15 or over to be a Strategist, or to use Torvan on your own. Children under 15 use Torvan as a Warrior, linked to a parent or carer as their Strategist. We go by the year of birth you give us.
- You're responsible for keeping your account password confidential.
- You agree not to use our app for anything unlawful, or to upload content that isn't yours to share.
Content you provide
You keep ownership of any content you upload, such as photos and task descriptions. By uploading it, you give us permission to store and process it solely to provide the app's functionality to you — for example, displaying a proof-of-completion photo.
Coins and payouts
- For a Warrior linked to a Strategist, coins stand for real money (1 coin is £1) that the Strategist has chosen to give as rewards.
- Torvan doesn't hold or move money. A Strategist pays a Warrior outside the app, in whatever way they choose. The app only records a payout: when the Strategist marks it as paid, and when the Warrior confirms they've got it.
- A Warrior can ask for a payout in the app. It's up to their Strategist whether, when and how to pay.
- Accounts used on your own (Solo) don't have payouts.
Subscriptions
- Plans can't be bought in the app at the moment. When they go on sale, you'll buy them in the app: through Google Play on Android, and through Apple's App Store on iPhone. We don't take payments on this website or anywhere else.
- One plan covers a household: the person who buys it, up to 6 Warriors linked to them, and the other adult Strategists linked to those Warriors, up to 4 adults in all, including the buyer. People beyond those limits aren't covered by the plan. For more people than that, such as an organisation, ask us about an organisation licence.
- Warriors can't buy a plan, and nor can anyone we know to be under 18. Torvan on your own is free while you're under 18, going by your year of birth: until 1 January of the year you turn 19.
- The store takes the payment, and the store's own terms apply to the purchase: Google Play's on Android, and Apple's on iPhone.
- Monthly and annual plans renew automatically until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep your plan until the end of the time you've paid for. On iPhone, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, because Apple charges for the renewal in the last 24 hours. Lifetime is one payment, with no renewals.
- On Android, you manage and cancel a subscription in Google Play: in the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. If you bought it, you can also cancel it in Torvan: Settings → Billing → Subscription.
- On iPhone, you manage and cancel a subscription in your Apple Account: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Torvan's Manage subscription button takes you there too. Buying Lifetime doesn't stop an App Store subscription, so cancel it yourself; the time you've already paid for isn't refunded.
- Refunds are handled by the store: by Google under Google Play's refund policies, and by Apple, which you can ask at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Test versions
- We sometimes offer test versions of Torvan before everyone gets them: through Apple's TestFlight on iPhone, and Google Play's testing programme on Android. A test version may have faults, and may change or stop at any time.
- Apple's TestFlight terms, or Google Play's terms, apply to joining a test. A test version uses your normal Torvan account, so these terms and our Privacy Policy apply to it too.
- A purchase in an iPhone test version is only a test: you aren't charged, and it gives at most 7 days of Premium.
Availability
We aim to keep our app available and working reliably, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may need to take the service down temporarily for maintenance or updates.
No warranty
Our app is provided "as is." While we take reasonable care in how we build and run it, we don't provide any warranty that it'll be error-free or fit for a particular purpose beyond its ordinary described use.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Torvan isn't liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of our app. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for anything that can't legally be limited or excluded, such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Ending your account
You can stop using our app and ask us to delete your account at any time — see our Privacy Policy for how. We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription bought through Google Play or the App Store, so cancel it in the store first. When the account is finally deleted, we also try to stop a Google Play subscription renewing, but we can't do this for an App Store one.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a significant change, we'll let you know in the app.
The only change in these terms (15 October 2026) is the name: Chore Scape is now called Torvan. Nothing else has changed.
Previous versions
- The terms of 5 October 2026, from before Chore Scape was renamed Torvan: terms-2026-10-05.html.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
