Rewards, levels, cards and packs
How coins and XP are worked out, how levels and ranks work, and how you build your card collection.
Updated for version 1.14.0. Last updated 13 October 2026.
At a glance
- Coins are real money: 1 coin = £1. The Strategist sets the coins for each quest and pays them out. About payouts. A Warrior's coins are kept in pots: see Savings pots below. Solo accounts don't have coins.
- XP is 100 for every approved quest. It keeps adding up.
- Levels come every 250 XP. Each level has a rank title from your World.
- Cards come in packs of 5. There are 100 in each of the nine Worlds.
- Packs: a welcome pack to start, then one for every level up to 100. Strategists get one when a linked Warrior levels up, and Duels wins bring more (from level 3).
All rewards are worked out by our server when a quest is approved. Nobody can award themselves anything.
How rewards are worked out
These rules are the same for every family. The only one a Strategist can change is the missed-quest penalty, which is off unless they switch it on.
| Rule | What happens |
|---|---|
| Approved quest | The coins set on the quest, plus 100 XP. |
| Partial credit | The Warrior said they only did part of it: 50% of the coins and XP. |
| Missed, then done | A quest that moved to a later day because it was missed pays 75% of its coins and XP. |
| Both | The 75% comes off first, then the 50%. So 100 XP becomes 75, then 38. |
| Day-completion bonus | When every quest due today is completed and the last one is approved that same day, the Warrior gets an extra 5% of the coins those quests paid, so partial credit and missed quests add less. A suggested quest still waiting for approval doesn't count. Once a day at most. With savings pots, it goes into the Default pot. |
| Missed-quest penalty | Off unless a Strategist switches it on for that Warrior (Settings → Preferences → Missed-quest penalty). When it's on: if a quest that had reminders on wasn't done or sent for review by the end of the day it was due, 10% comes off the Warrior's coin balance. It's taken at most once a day, however many quests were missed, only for a quest's first miss, and never for quests due on or before the day it was switched on. Coins already waiting in a payout don't count. The Warrior is told each time, and it never takes the balance below 0. With savings pots, it's 10% of the Default pot only, and the other pots are never fined. |
| Streak | Each night, if every quest due yesterday was done or sent for review, the streak goes up by 1. If any was missed, it goes back to 0. Days with no quests don't count. |
Good to know.
- When the missed-quest penalty is on, it's a share of the whole balance, not of that quest's reward. It applies to any missed quest with reminders on, even one with no due time. Reminders are on by default.
- Switching the penalty on needs a Strategist who is 18 or over, with a verified email. Any linked Strategist can switch it off.
- Solo accounts never get the penalty, because they have no coins. They also don't have partial credit.
- A quest card always shows the full reward, even when less will be paid.
- The streak shows on the home screen of the person doing the quests: a Warrior, a Solo user, or a Strategist on their own My quests. A Strategist doesn't see a Warrior's streak, and it isn't in the weekly activity summary.
- A Strategist can undo an approval for a few seconds afterwards. That takes back the coins, XP and any bonus. Packs are never taken back, and a level that already brought a pack doesn't bring another when it's reached again. With savings pots, an approval can't be undone once its reward has been paid out, is waiting to be paid, or has been moved or fined since. The app says so.
Savings pots
From version 1.14.0, a Warrior's coins are kept in pots. Every Warrior has a Default pot, and a Strategist can add more, such as "Holiday", up to 8 at a time (Default included). Each quest pays into a pot: Default, unless the Strategist picks another. The day-completion bonus goes into Default, and missed-quest penalties only come from Default, so the other pots are safe. To be paid, a Warrior opens My pots and taps Ask for money on one pot. More about pots and payouts.
Seeing what changed: Balance History
Balance History lists everything that changed the coins over the last 90 days, newest first:
- quest rewards, marked "(partial credit)" or "(recovered)" where they apply;
- "Day-completion bonus";
- "Missed-quest penalty", only if the missed-quest penalty is switched on.
Once a Warrior has savings pots, each pot has its own History instead, in My pots (Warriors) or Pots for [name] (Strategists). It lists payouts and money moved between pots too.
Payouts aren't listed here. Without savings pots (or on an older version of the app), Warriors can tap their coins on the home screen, or go to Settings → Preferences → Balance History. Strategists use the same Settings route to see Warrior's Balance History for the Warrior on screen.
XP, levels and ranks
- Your level is your XP divided by 250, rounded down, plus 1. So 0 XP is level 1, 250 XP is level 2, and 500 XP is level 3.
- One quest is 100 XP, so about two and a half quests make a level.
- Duels wins give 10 XP each, for up to 3 wins a day. Chores are still the main way to level up.
- When you reach a new level, the home screen shows RANK UP! once, with your new rank and the pack waiting for you: tap Open your pack, or Later to keep it. (With no pack waiting, for example above level 100, the button is Continue Campaign.)
- The home screen says "RANK", Warrior Records says "LEVEL" and Solo says "Level". They're all the same number.
To see your progress, tap the shield to open Warrior Records. It shows your level, XP to the next level and lifetime XP. Family Warriors also see Active Coins and Lifetime Earned.
Each World has 25 rank titles. After level 25, you keep the top title.
| World | First rank | Top rank |
|---|---|---|
| Three Kingdoms | Conscripted Farmer | Celestial Dragon Emperor |
| Wildlife | Trail Volunteer | Legendary Warden |
| Feudal Japan | Peasant Conscript | Shogun's Chosen Daimyo |
| Ancient Greece | Helot Farmhand | Basileus of the Realms |
| Age of Sail | Powder Monkey | Pirate King of the High Seas |
| Ancient Egypt | Nile Field Labourer | Living God-Pharaoh |
| Viking Age | Thrall Farmhand | High King of the Northmen |
| Medieval Knights | Serf Farmhand | Sovereign King |
| American Frontier | Homestead Hand | Legend of the Frontier |
Worlds
A Warrior or Solo user picks a World when they sign up. It sets the colours, the World their card packs come from to start with, the rank titles and some names. A linked Strategist's app follows the Warrior's World, except on Me in My quests, where it shows the World they picked for their own quests. Each World's colour shows across the whole app, and changes straight away when the World changes. Light Mode is offered in Three Kingdoms only, for now.
| World | A quest is a… | A Warrior is a… | A Strategist is a… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three Kingdoms | Quest | Warrior | Strategist |
| Wildlife | Task | Explorer | Warden |
| Feudal Japan | Duty | Samurai | Daimyo |
| Ancient Greece | Trial | Hoplite | Strategos |
| Age of Sail | Voyage | Buccaneer | Quartermaster |
| Ancient Egypt | Decree | Guardian | Vizier |
| Viking Age | Saga | Raider | Jarl |
| Medieval Knights | Quest | Knight | Steward |
| American Frontier | Bounty | Ranger | Marshal |
These names show up mostly when you pick a World and sign up. Most screens say Quest, Warrior and Strategist whichever World you're in.
Changing World
Warriors and Solo users can go to Settings → Preferences → Change World, then tap Choose on a World and Switch. Quests, coins and XP all carry over. Cards belong to their own World, and every one you've collected stays yours: the Compendium shows all nine Worlds. If your level-up packs are set to My World, new ones come from the World you switch to. Strategists can't change a Warrior's World: the app takes on the World of the Warrior they're looking at. A Strategist using My quests picks a World for their own quests, and can change it from Me, in Settings → Preferences → Change World.
Cards and the Compendium
Each World has 100 collectible cards, each with its own art and lore.
| Rarity | Colour | Cards per World |
|---|---|---|
| Common | Grey | 20 |
| Uncommon | Green | 20 |
| Rare | Blue | 30 |
| Epic | Purple | 20 |
| Mythic | Gold | 10 |
How you get cards
- Cards come in packs of 5. A new Warrior or Solo user gets a welcome pack to start their collection.
- Every new level, up to level 100, brings another pack, whether quests or Duels wins took you there.
- A welcome or level pack's cards come from one World: your own, unless you choose another. Any of the nine Worlds can be chosen.
- Each card has a 5% chance of being shiny.
- Quests no longer unlock single cards (they did before Chore Scape 1.6.8). Cards you unlocked that way are still yours.
Opening the Compendium
Warriors tap the shield on the home screen, then View Compendium. Solo users tap Cards & Progress, then View Compendium. When packs are waiting, the View Compendium card says how many.
- The Compendium shows every painting you own, from packs and from quests. Duels tactic cards from packs are in Duels → Collection. Chips along the top switch between the nine Worlds, with your own World first.
- Collection Progress and the rarity counts are for the World you're looking at.
- Cards you own show their art. The others show a dark, blurred glimpse of the painting in their rarity's frame, with a lock and no name. Tapping one says it's not in your collection yet, which rarity it is, and to level up to earn packs.
- Sort offers Card Number or Unlocked First, which puts the cards you own first.
- Tap a card you own to see its lore and three stats: Martial Power, Strategy Power and Honour Rating.
- The Packs button at the top (a gift icon) opens your packs, with a number when some are waiting. It works from level 1, before Duels unlock.
Packs
A pack has 5 cards, and the last card is always rare or better. Packs are only ever earned: there's nothing to buy, and the odds are published (pack odds and opening).
| Pack | Who gets it | When | Its cards come from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Welcome pack | New Warriors and Solo users, and Strategists who set up My quests | When they start, at level 1 | One World: your own, or the one you choose |
| Level pack | Warriors and Solo users, and Strategists for their own levels in My quests | Every new level, up to level 100 | One World: your own, or the one you choose |
| Strategist pack | Strategists | Each time a linked Warrior reaches a new level, up to level 100 | One World: that Warrior's, or the one you choose |
| Daily-win pack | Anyone who plays Duels | Your first Duels win each day | One of the four Duels worlds, plus neutral cards |
Getting and opening your packs
- A pack you've earned arrives the next time the app loads your home screen, the Compendium or Duels.
- When you level up, the RANK UP! box says a pack is waiting. Tap Open your pack, or Later to keep it. A new Warrior's welcome pack gets a box of its own, with Open it and Later.
- Packs you haven't opened wait in Packs: the gift icon in the Compendium, or the Packs button in the Duels lobby.
- When the cards are dealt, tap each one to turn it over, then tap a card that's face up to see it full size. More about opening packs.
- Packs never send a push notification.
What's in a level pack
- Within each rarity, a level pack gives you a card of its World that you don't have yet whenever there is one. You only get another copy of a card you already have once you've collected every card of that rarity in that World.
- For the four Duels worlds (Viking Age, Ancient Egypt, Age of Sail and Feudal Japan), a level pack can also hold that world's Duels tactic cards.
- Cards you own that aren't Duels cards yet appear in Duels under Not playable yet: most paintings, including 76 of the 100 in each Duels world. Duels cards are 24 paintings and 6 tactics per Duels world, plus 25 neutral cards. Every copy is kept.
- Below level 3 you can open packs from the Compendium, but spare copies can only be turned into Dust once Duels unlock at level 3.
- Levels reached before Chore Scape 1.6.8 were rewarded with a card each, so they don't bring packs.
Choosing where packs come from
Open Packs and look under Level-up packs come from. Choose My World (Strategists see Each Warrior's World) or any of the nine Worlds. It only changes packs you get afterwards: packs you already have keep their cards. If you choose one of the four Duels worlds, your daily-win packs come from it too. More about pack worlds.
Packs for Strategists
- Each time one of your linked Warriors reaches a new level, you get a pack of your own, for your own Duels collection.
- Only levels reached after you linked count. Linking to a Warrior doesn't bring packs for the levels they already had.
- When one arrives, your bell shows New pack, for example "Sam reached level 4: a pack is waiting in Duels.", and the Duels icon on your home screen shows how many packs are waiting. There's no push notification.
- Don't want Duels? Go to Settings → Preferences → Play Duels and switch it off. The Duels icon disappears, and new packs open by themselves straight into your collection, with no bell note. Packs already waiting stay sealed until you switch Duels back on. See Play Duels.
